well i changed my tranny fluid and filter today and when i went to clean out the bottum of the pan the magnet was coverd with a thick layer of some kind of grey grease? Was this somekind of metal from the engine??
Thats not grease, thats carbon flakes and metal shavings from the tranny, its normal i guess, so long as they arent shiny and huge.
First no it isnt metal from the engine, it is metal shavings mainly from the planetery get set of the transmission. Anyways it is normal.

alright i was just wonderin because there was alot of it
Heya Ryan Shissler, Are the original owner of youre car?. If you got greyish particals on you magnet tranny pan its more and likely wear to youre transmission, Usually caused by hard driving or lack of maintance ( proper trans fluid or over due changes). If youre transmission isnt slipping or whining, Youre tranny should still be in good shape.
i had the same thing, but where is the filter i heard its damn near impossible to change? i have a 4speed
i have no clue who the other owner was of my car. I know it was a college chick from somewhere west of me. I got the car from a used car lot. Its not slipping but more of a, it takes longer to shift into drive from park and it takes time to down shift from other sunfires i have rode in. I have a 3 spd. so i dont know about the 4 spd. but mine was pretty much straight forward.
