V.S.S??

No, this is not a question on how to modify my vehicle speed sensor. But, how hard is it to change? I think that mine is going bad. For some time know my speedometer has been on the frits. When I''m going down the highway my speedometer needle will just start bounceing all over the place. It will do it for a while and then it will work for a while like it is supposed to and then out of nowhere it will start going nuts again. I have posted on here before and asked for suggestions on what might be causing my needle to bounce like it does and some poeple suggested to change the VSS. How hard is it to change and exactly where is it located?

The VSS sensor is plugged into your transmission. I'm not sure exactly where on the Isuzu tranny but check your service manual and it will tell you. Should be easy to change.

Now before you do that, you might also consider the speedo. Here is why. I had a 96 merc mystique before the cavi and the speedo did exactly what you are claiming here. Sometimes I would drive up over 65 and the speedo would just hang there. Other times I would be slowing down from, say, 45 and it would hover and then drop. I didn't replace the VSS on that car, just the speedo pod...might be something worth investigating....

That is EXACTLY what mine is doing!!! Maybe I will change my gauges first? Thanks for the advice!!

Do you have an aftermarket gauge overlay installed? When I installed mine, I put the needles back on too close to the overlay so they were catching on it and doing what you described above. So I had to tear it all back apart and pull the needles out a little bit.
