Im just curious if lifter noise on these motors is common in the higher(155.xxx)miles. Car runs fine otherwise. Any one know where to get a set of lifters cheap? Thanks guys.
Any noise is common with the ohv

I would say try Advance or Autozone for the lifters and I hope you realize the head has gotta come off so you're looking at a new headgasket and headbolts, plus whatever gaskets may be needed from having to take stuff off to get the head off.
Does the noise go away when the car warms up? Could be a little piston slap. My 2002 makes a little ticking noise on cold days until it warms up. Supposedly this condition is nothing to worry about. FWIW I use Havoline 10W-30 oil and it makes the car run nice and quiet.
God bless America.
FYI, If I'm not mistaken, the hydrolic lifters ride the camshaft on rollertips, so wear is not commonly found there. Wear would be more likely up top with the rockers. Torque them back on, or replace them with roller tips. Also a good idea to replace the pushrods while you have them off. Be EXTRA-SUPER careful!!!!!!!! DO NOT drop a nut into the head. Either a complete ^$#^$&%*%##!@!! to get out with a magnet, OR you haveta pull the head to retrieve it.
Ticking is more likely piston slap, if yours is a '90's engine.
Thanks for the info guys! Its lifter noise for sure, gets worse as the car warms up. If im not mistaken, they changed to roller lifters in 98? I am also porting a head, so head gasket and bolts are in line as well. Thanks again guys.
Yeah rollers from 98 on with the 2200. I was under the assumption you had a pre 98 as you said 2.2 and your registry doesn't tell for sure.
Guys, my '96 2.2's got roller lifters. '95's might even have them.
