My 00 Cavalier is running at High Temperature. The low level coolant light is on but the tank is full. What could this be. Rad or Water Pump?

How does ur car run? if it runs fine it might just be a bad thermostat.

Have you changed any fluids, pump, thermostat, hoses or anything else on coolant system? If you have, did you leave the reservoir bottle cap off when running it after coolant has been refilled? If you didnt, you could possibly have an air bubble in your cooling system. If it is an air bubble there should be a hose or a valve near the thermostat to relieve the air bubble. My cav did same thing after I changed lower radiator hose. i didnt leave the cap off after I refilled it with coolant and I got an air bubble. Car ran at just over 220 till I got rid of the bubble. Good luck.

Nothing was change on the cooling system. Lastnight on the way home the low cooland light came on. I'm usually good on checking this stuff. Anyway I went home filled her up and then the light was still on this morning. But I didn't leave the cap off when I started the car after the fill up.

My 2001 would suddenly heat up and boil over, the thermostat would go over 200 and the battery light would come on. No one could understand why but I replaced the thermostat even though it didn't seem to point to that as a problem-but it fixed it. I've had to replace it twice. It was the cheapest solution too.

Well I would go with getting the thermostat changed coolant and cooling system flushed, Then see if any change happens, If not then you got to look at other theory's like rad could be plugged, May need to replace it. Or water pump is starting to fail, Or temp sending unit could be failing as well. Last but least cyl head gasket.
