Ok, I have a 2000 Z24 and last summer/fall I was driven my car and it started to sputter and the R's started dropping then it just died and wouldn't start again, after changing the fuel filter everything was good again.
So I was driving home last night and it did it again and after a tow home, I put in a new filter this morning and now it runs great, and i noticed that for the last few weeks it had been turning over longer before it would start, now it doesn't.
I am assuming that changing your fuel filter every year isn't normal. Right?
Should i drop the tank and clean it out? Or is there something else going on?
I cut the filter onen after I took it off and it looked pretty dirty. I don't know what color it was supposed to be though.
Any other ideas???
well i got my car a few months ago and i changed the filter and it was a rusty water color. Don't know how long it had been since changed but it'll usually look dirty like that if it's been a while.
have you tried running some seafoam through it?
if you have the time and dont mind helping your car at all, then go ahead and drop the tank. it'll only help i guess, and if you do that i'd take the injectors out and clean them well.
You might want to get a fuel pressure test done, Or the sump screen on the fuel pump may be clogged.
my car did the same thing every one told me it was fuel problems but after putting diferent injectors in and a new filter it still did the same thing only some times seemed like ti happened more on warmer days but it inded up being part of my coil pack our ignition module i jsut replaced both of them and my car has ran great for about 2 months now no more problems try that.
