What's ETS Like?

My Sunfire has the ETS system but since I live in the desert where there's never

ice or snow, it never gets activated. I read that ETS will make the transaxle

upshift under some conditions. Has anyone has this happen? Does it really help on

ice and snow?

I find it more of an annoyance than anything. What it does is limits your engine RPM's when the wheels are slipping. I usually turn it off.

yeah if you driving and the tires start to spin it will automatically slow your rpm so they dont spin ... good for the risk of hydroplanning or sliding on snow.

Go find a gravel/sand road, floor it, and u'll see what it does.
That's what i've done before to make sure mine was workin.

It does the exact thing that your rev limiter does (if you've ever hit that) If it starts the fuel cut and you're still spinning the tires it will command an upshift of the transmission. Most everything else pulls timing, so I woudlnt doubt it does that too. Usually it stops spinning tires once the fuel cut starts working.
