I NEED HELP BAD
Tuesday, April 25, 2006 3:19 PM
Ok about a week ago my car's engine started shaking that same night I took it over to a buddies place to find out what it was; while driving it a bolt snapped and the engine started shaking really bad. When we got it back to his place we opened the hood to find one of the parts missing. We are not sure what parts it is. So I posted on this site the symptoms and pics (below) and somebody sadi that it was the "upper engine mount assembly". All of this week I have been going to different auto parts store asking if they had any "upper engine mount assembly" they all brought out the lower engine mount. So either they just don't carry them or it is not the right name of the part missing can anyone tell what this part is please.

It looks to me like it isnt the mount its the piece that bolts up to the engine that connects the mount to engine , either way if you cant find junkyard your gonna have to go to GM , try print a picture and bring it to them.

You are missing the two vertical screws on the engine side that hold the part (tongue like) that gets into the mount it seems.

1) go to dealership get 2 new bolts for upper engine mount. They will show you a picture- tell them which bolts you need. Be ready to pay 10+ per bolt

2) jack the engine up from the lower engine mount. until the upper mount from the engine to the car is flush then tighten the bolts pretty much as tight as you can get them, while your there check all the other bolts.

I just looked at your picture it seems that the bolt actually broke off so you will need the mount piece from the car, which can be somewhat of a bitch to change theres 3 bolts that hold it not sure of size off the top of my head but you have to jack engine up take one off.. lower engine take other off etc. Bolt the new one up and follow the instructions above

Does anyone know the torque settings for these two bolts? I looked in a chilton and a haynes and neither had the settings for them.
