My brother's 98 Z24 with the 5 speed is having some sort of electrical problem. If the key is turned to start, the engine won't turn over. No click or any other sound from the starter. Battery has plenty of power, and the car will run with a jump start. He tried swapping lock cylinders and ignition switch from a 95 Cavalier non-Z24 and it didn't help any. Any ideas? Maybe a wire broke off the starter solenoid?
How about trying a different starter?
Would a starter from a 2.2 work with the 2.4? He's got a 95 Cavalier parts car in his yard with the 2.2
try cleaning the battery terminals. if they are corroded, that will be a big reason why the car wont turn over.
if when you put a set of cables on the car it will start but wont start without the cables, then the first thing you should look at is the power source.
regardless how good you think the battery is, everytime you turn that key, the starter puts a HUGE drain on the battery.
chech the battery, battery terminals for cleanliness and maybe replacement, and check your fuses while you are at it just to be safe.

Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
take the starter with seloniod to autozone and have it checked
It's fixed. Turns out it was the starter signal wire, or whatever that little wire is. That took like 6 hours to find and repair.
