Hey I have a 98 cavy z24 and my rear view mirror broke off the window. The mirror is all together, the part that broke off was, I guess its glued onto the window as there was a like glue residue left on the window where the mirror attached... so what should I use to attach it back on the window?
I read crazy glue shouldn't be used, so how else can I attach this and also if it is possible to remove the dry glue on the window.
go to autoparts store the sell kits specifically for this
You can use silicone permatex, but I use 2-part epoxy. Loosen the screw at the base of the mirror and slide out the mounting base. Clean the windshield and base really well w/alcohol or paint thinner, etc. Apply the glue or silicone and tape the base to the windshield. Let it set up overnight and remove tape, slide mirror back into the base and tighten the screw.
God bless America.
Get the kit, the glue is better. The only thing that will get the left-over glue off is to use a razor at about 30 degree tilt off the window and scrape it off. Alcohol or thinner is a good prep/cleaner before you use th glue on the window.
