Im fairly new to these cavaliers, but i finished my head gasket on my 1995 cavalier a week ago and a problem just developed. Everytime when i use the cruise control within 20-30 seconds the check engine light goes on and stays on, it only goes on when i use the cruise control. What could this possibly be.

Does the cruise control still work? You could have the cruise control unplugged or not plugged in enough.

Did you have the cel code checked? I have a problem that sounds the same as yours, when cruising in 5th gear, steady light throttle, the cel comes on. I had code dtc55, lean fuel monitor. I've changed the fuel filter, o2 sensor, new plugs & wires, cleaned out my egr valve. Fuel pump changed 2 years ago. Still have the cel come on, and this only occurs at light steady throttle, not at wot or when accelerating.
