Heat works until car warms up

I tried the I have no heat sticky but no one responded to that. In any event, it is quite strange because it is not like I do not have heat.

My car began to overheat when I am idling or at a low speed. I checked the engine bay and the cooling fan died (I know it did because I hooked it up directly to the battery when I took it out). I replaced it and still had the same problem.

Then I went and replaced the thermostat, turns out that was stuck *slightly* open. The car stopped over heating but still had another problem from the beginning.

Before changing anything and even now, the car will warm up and blow hot air as it should. That is until 170 degrees where it starts to blow much cooler (not cold) air.

My heater core was replaced last year over summer so I HOPE that is not it.
Thanks.

did you bleed the air out of the system after you filled it with coolant?

Umm if u did not bleed off any air pockets and you have trapped air in the system that is possible.U said u straight wired ur fan to the battery, like why would u do that being that the fan has a relay?Anyhow as long as u have the correct temperature thermostat and was installed properly and u have no air bubbles trapped in the cooling system the heater core would blow cold air and maybe leak all the time.I would do a coolant flush if u choose,or at least leave the radiator cap,off let the car run for 15 -20 minutes so the air will rise to the highest point being the coolant resevoir and the cap off alloys the air to escape if u have any trapped in the system. It's completely possible ur thermostat is defective even if its not that old and its not a uncommon problem. That is what comes to mind based on ur post.I hope this is useful to you.

Thanks! I will give it a try when I can.

What I meant was I checked the old fan by hooking it up directly to the battery and it was, in fact dead. It was just strange that 3 things went bad all at once.

I will do a purge of air and see how it turns out.
