This is irrelevant now, because when this happened i hadnt even dreamed of working on my car. But now that i have joined JBO and i have been working on my car a few years, it just popped into my head.
I have a 97 cavalier 2.2L. A few years back my steering started acting up really badly. It would literally lock, and when it did turn it would sound like someone was firing air out of an air compressor. It got so bad at one point in time it forced me off the road. When i got it towed to a garage they discovered my entire steering system was trash. suposedly this was a factory defect and GM had a recall on it. They replaced everything for free, but it nearly killed me. I was wondering if anyone else had this happen.
My moms 1982 Cavi did that like 15 years ago. If I remember correctly it was rack that went out. Don't know the outcome too many years ago.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
Yup. Thats exactly what it was. The steering rack...
Haven't had the 'pleasure'. Opted not to dick around for a convenient time to have it fixed. I went in THAT Saturday.
