welll the engine runs fine at idle, sounds normal, doesnt run rough, and when i rev it up i hear nothing....... my oil level is perfect, doesnt burn or leak at all.... but the past 2 days I hear this rattle once and a while, in 1st or 2nd....... ONLY in gear when i take off and bring out the clutch....... its not the clutch grinding, cause my level is good and i know what that sounds like...... the noise is coming from the passenger side......
and I only heard it when my engine temperature was hot hot hot like past 3/4 on the meter.......
any ideas??? timing chain maybe getting worn? i think it might need replacing.... engine sounds the same/and exhaust the same when driving too.......
and also....... I have a machined head, and all new valves/rockers/lifters....... how hard is it to swap heads? if it IS say a lifter startin to go
a day of work? weekend?
I rebuilt my whole top end in a couple days but i had to wait for my head to come back from the machine shop...probly a weekend, if you just wanted to do it...
You don't have to change the head if a lifter is bad, just the lifter and whatever else it wears with. I'd check your exhaust shields, it's pretty common for them to make a rattle noise with a manual transmission.
You can't outrun the radio.
