ok everyone, i screwed up and did something I've promised myself since day 1 i wouldn't do, but I missed an oil change. with everything thats been going on, and the cold cny winter, and not having room in my dad's garage, i've just completely missed and i mean by alot, like twice as long as I should have!
so, i know this is bad and really bad, but i took a personal day from work today just to do a tune up on the cavy and get her back up to par. so, my question to you guys is, is there something i can run through the engine to kind of clean out all the old crap thats in there since the oil is twice as old as it should be i'm sure its all junk in there. should i buy some cheap oil and run it a couple days and then do another oil change? or would that not even make a difference really. i've never ran into this before as i've always done my changes on time. somebody please help as i dont want my engine to get tired and crap out on me, i love my little eco and i'm afraid i hurt her
Brian
you should be ok, iv gone 8000 miles before an oil change....aslong as you are not low on oil you will be fine. Just replace as normal and oil will do its thing.
Gunk Engine cleaner Its a bottle, you pour it in run the car for 5 minutes then let it sit for a few more. How far past the oil change, and what kind of oil do you run?
If its synthetic, and your at no more than 7500 or so it shouldn't be a problem. I change mine every 5K.
There is no need to run some other oil in their for a few days. Just clean her out put in new and never do it again

.
The eco is a very hard engine to hurt under normal operating conditions.

just change it and get over it.

Drain a quart (or so) of oil out of the engine and run about a quart of kerosene or diesel. Those "engine cleaners" are nothing more than diesel or kerosene with additives. Save your money.
Anyway, put a quart of that in there and drive around for about 20 minutes. Drain, change the oil and filter, and be done!

hell, i my wife ran her van for 9000 miles on REGUALR DINO oil one time. when she finally told me it needed changed i was a little freaked. did an oil change and it ran fine. sold it with 189k on it.
GO PATS!!!
Well running 1000 or 2000 can still cause bottom end bearing weakness, Usually if you get it changed before then its ok.
This lady came into the Toyota dealership, said her car just died while driving.
Turns out the engine locked up because she NEVER had the oil changed in 24,000 miles. "Umm you have to do those under warranty" she said "umm yeah" and this isnt covered.

read the back of the can. i use like 4-6oz in the oil let the car run for 15 minutes and put the rest of the can in the gas tank. i just did my sister inlaws car the same way because she has not changed the oil in 1 1/2 years

i love this stuff and it is cheap. my dad use to use it in cars back in the day
see ya!
