My 96 Z24 is @!#$ up.
I'll start the car and after about 30 seconds the tach will start reving up and down like i'm pressing the gas pedal down every two seconds. It stalls out when the revs get to low, it also stalls out whenever i'm stopped.
It will get me from point A to point B but not reliably. If the tach starts to "sputter" on me i'll press the gas down to try and attempt a semi-manual fuel injection and it seems to work. Whenever i idle or have cruise on it will sputter and act funny.
I used some "dry gas" to see if it was water in the lines or gas tank but that didn't seem to do a thing. I live in michigan and every winter since i've had my license i have blamed the weather on one of my cars breaking.
Best case scenario: i'm in need of a tune-up
Has this happened to anyone else?
If so, what did you do? how much did it cost? is it worth fixing?

iac valve?
(idle air control)
it's a possibility...
come to think about it have u changed ur fuel filter?
i don't think it's fuel related, he said he tried spraying fuel into it and it didn't seem to do anything...

really where does it say that?
Change your fuel filter.
I am leaning more towards it being a dirty idle air control valve/throttle body because most people usually replace their fuel filter and they may not know about the other. However should this not resolve your issue the next step would be to have the fuel filter replaced. Fram fuel filters are @ Wal-Mart for about $12.
I had a similar situation and removed and cleaned the iac (just two tor screws) plus a simple reset of computer (engine off, switch to on, remove battery terminal and wait some 60 seconds then move the switch to off and connect the battery terminal) fixed the problem for a few days.I am waiting for the new iac valve from GMpartsdirect, problem came back and this time I just unpluged the connector of the iac valve with engine running and this fixed the thing, just hope it will last until the new iac valve arrives.
look at the post from draco00_29 It could be anything because I can't figure mine out either.
