Hi guys, i know this is for a different car then a j but i figured maintenance forum you guys would know. I put mystery oil treatment in my oil and gas tank. In a 94 bmw 325i and 94 mustang 6 cyl. Both cars are seeming to run bad. Both run pretty much like crap. It said on the bottle that its poured into oil and gas tank and it cleans everything. Whats going on here? thanks

Umm seafoam is the BEST! While mystery oil does some wonders the seafoam is by far the best I have ever used in my 21 yrs of owning a vehicle.Seafoam basically cleans all the crap built up inside out like the marvel mystery oil says, but only have used it to lubricate cylinder walls on a car that sat 10 yrs and it started right up after a tune up and hand cranking the engine to ensure no damage would occur. It does work do not get me wrong but seafoam is far better.Good luck with ur end results it should in no way harm the car as far as I know.Ok
awesome man, thanks alot for the quick response.maybe ill give that seafoam stuff a shot. how do u use it? just pour it in?

How much did you pour in? It shouldn't have done that.

Seafoam, ran it thru on my last oil change.
Anything that says "Mystery" reads Snake Oil to me. I know many have used it.
For the best results i run a bottle of gunk engine flush thru, then drain and refill the oil.
Next I use about 1/2 of the seafoam and nurse it into the intake manifold via the vaccuum line, the rest I dump in the tank.
Deffinately a noticable as it cleans the valves and injectors.
WARNING seafoam MAKES A LOT OF WHITE SMOKE while its running thru, so make sure your outside in a WELL VENTILATED AREA.

what i was wondering was maybe its the crap in there that its cleaning wokring its way out? i poured in what it said to on the bottle, like its like a few ounces or so every 10 gallons of gas.

Could be. Regardless of what these guys say Marvel Mystery Oil isn't bad at all. I've used it countless times and never had a problem.
I liken this to a Chevy VS. Ford style arguement more then anything. And personal preferences are never wrong.

Marvels Mystery Oil = Good stuff.

If the intake system was pretty gummed up then it could just be stuff working through. Warm the cars up and then run them hard to see if it clears up.
You can't outrun the radio.
I can't find the web page for Marvel Mystery oil, but my understanding of crankcase cleaners is that they're supposed to loosen all the engine sludge and other deposits in your engine. So, you're supposed to put the Mystery oil in, run your engine for a short time (whatever it says on the bottle; maybe only five minutes) and then you drain your oil so that all the loosened sludge and deposits will drain out with it. Otherwise, if you don't drain the oil and all the now-loosened sludge, etc. from your oil, it just keeps getting circulated in your engine and in a worst case scenario, that sludge can cause your engine to sieze. So drain your oil and replace your oil & filter. Once you have, let us know your results.
on the bottle it says add it to the crankcase oil,but It didnt have any special instructions at all. NOthing about when to change it and what not

I myself would only run marvels mystery stuff a short time, yes it does work and would not hesistate to use,but like I said seafoam is my preference.I would only run it a day at the most then do a oil change.Unless the can specifically states to change after say 10 min I would not worry about it.Most engine cleaners like gunk's motor flush requires a oil change after running the car for 5 minutes warm, and new oil filter.Gunks is good but would only use once in a blue moon bc it can dry out gaskets but,it is very effective.Kerosene will clean the insides too,and not harm anything just remove build up,while some may shun the idea a real old school mechanic would not ? the idea at all.I think ur fine and it should do the trick on what u bought.
in the gas i found that anymore than 8oz per 10gal of gas the car s run poor.
see ya!
With seafam if you just put it in the vacum lines do you have to do anythihn speacial, or just let it smoke out after a while.
