Heater problem - not like any of the "Sticky's"

My 2000 Z24 has this weird problem. It started when the heater fan wouldn't work at all. I tapped it, checked fuses, etc... nothing worked. Well when I sort of wiggle the key in the ignition the fan will start... but once the car starts it dies right away unless I shut off the heater fan... any ideas ?

Well Brian Lar :

My guess would be that youre key cyl is needed to be replaced, Their seems to be something faulty in youre ignition, I would take a look at youre heater blower motor as well, You can use a multi digital meter to see how much current you got running to youre fan blower motor and switch.

After looking into it more... I think it has nothing to do with the ignition. When I turn the key on (with the fan switch on high) the fan blows for 3 sec then cuts out and this happens over and over again, as I turn the key off and on, exactly 3 sec every time so I think it is some sort of overload protection happening there. Sounds electrical but... has anyone ever experienced something like this?

luckily my cousin has the same car and he is parting it out so I can just keep swapping all kinds of parts from his car to mine until I find it. Only thing is he lives 45 mins away.
