does anyone know where the EGR is?my car is 1999 cavalier, base model 2.2l,auto.the idle is pretty rough, I have already cleaned IAC valve, little bit improved.so I schedule to clean the EGR valve or ignition coil, any body can help?
Even tho you have a 2.2 its still pretty damn close to the same spot..
Just FYI, there's no EGR after 98 on J's
i think some 99s have them no? but thats true alot dont.
Well 1999dg-cav : If youre cavy has EGR valve on 2.2L it should be loacated near youre throttle bodie close to youre Brake Master cyl, Its connected near you Intake manifold.
And aswell pre-98' have two types of EGR's the one in the above pic is a linear EGR and i'd becareful of cleaning it the pintle is controlled by the pcm. mess it up and the pcm will throw up a check engine light. i think the other EGR was only in the 95 2.2L and that was a back pressure valve type. i'd go out and buy a gasket for it first before removing it..that if it has one.

2.2 and 2.4 EGR is exactly the same and can be interchanged. I have a CEL for "pintle positon sensor" But i know its not in the actual EGR because ive replaced the damn thing and i still get it so im lost!
thanks everybody, my car runs good, but just little shake when idle, someone says that's problem of IAC or EGR valve, i cleaned IAC, but I did not find any EGR on my car, even though someone give me glue, and the heynes repair mannual gives figure, but it's really diffrent, it seems this car has no EGR? how it works without a EGR? thanks everybody!
some 99's have EGRs some dont... all 98's have them... good luck fixing ur car man...
