from what others have told me, based on my descriptions of the problems, the following needs to be done on my car.
replacement of the valve gasket and engine mounts. for someone who's never done anything like this before, should i just take it to a shop? or could i possibly do it myself? i have a haynes manual (somewhere), i figured it would show how to do that. and i'm not all that bad at reading and following instructions.
thanks
Well im assuming this is a 2200 ? if so the valve cover gasket isnt hard to change just a few bolts on top , if its the ehadgasket well then thats quite a bit of work and unless your really good at mechanic work id suggest a garage do it for you. The motor mounts you just have to take the weight off the mounts by lifting the engine with a jack and then unbolting them and removing and replacing them one at a time.
yes, it's a 2200. i'm not sure what it is. i got oil where my spark plugs are. so whatever would be the cause of that. i wanted to be somewhat sure of what the problem is, so if/when i do go to a garage, they won't try to tell me i need something i don't need.
mounts seem easy. i'll take of that this weekend.
thanks for the help
its valve cover gasket.. not sure how it is on a 2.2 engine mounts are easy tho.. just make sure you jack the engine in the right spots
lower motor mount is fairly simple to do. as is the valve cover gasket. common issues I suppose on the 2.2l.

2009 Ford Mustang V6
ok, where exactly is the "right" spot to jack the engine up? can't find my repair manual!!
i called a couple of garages, $72 just for labor to put the gasket on, another said $200!!!!. i saw the part at advance auto for like $15. i think i will take a stab at doing it myself.
thanks again for the help.

I have oil there also, just cleaned it all up but I'm gonna go buy a new gasket soon.
I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.
finally got what i needed to fix my car. can't believe nobody had any in stock!! quick question before i get started ( have to wait for the engine to cool down as well ). a friend of mine said to use brake cleaner and a rag to get the oil out of the spark plug ports. is that a big "NO NO!!"?? a guy at advance auto said that i "DON'T" want to do that. will using it cause a big kaboom??
well coolgrafix
You dont want to use brake fluid cleaner on youre valve covers, Just buy a can of engine degreaser, That will take care of the oil on youre engine. And coolgrafix if you want to learn how to work on youre car The best way to learn is to get a haynes book, This will guide you through easy tasks and maintances you can save youreself some cash.
well rich, i was in the middle of replacing the gasket when you sent that. and i did use brake cleaner, started it up, no problems so far...except for the two bolts i had left over after putting everything back together...j/k. and i do have a haynes book, just forgot to grab it when i left the house this morning.
