I don't know where to post this but I only have an hour so here it is:
2000 sunfire Gt stock used motor oil leaks out of dip stick and when engine is running air comes out of the dip stick hole it's no a lot of air not enough to blow the dip stick out, I don't know if it's normal or if something wrongs internally but I have no power lost just a little ideal problem idealing up and down, if anybody can help it'll be great appreciated
Check to see if there is a black o-ring type gasket near the top of the dipstick. If it is missing this could be your problem.
yes it's missing but is air suppose to come out of the dip stick hole?
I am certain that the o-ring serves a purpose. For the cost of a couple of dollars it would be the first thing I would try.
If you were to slowly remove the oil filler cap with the engine running you would hear an air noise (suction).
yea its normal if u take it out while engine is running there would be air along with some oil splatter same as if you were to remove the fill cap while car is on oil will be pushed out and splattered... get the o ring and it should be fine
Should the dealer be to costly or too far away, perhaps a plumbing supply shop would have an o-ring for it.
i'm going to change the hole oil tube and stick but is the 2.4 motor know to have air coming from the dip stick hole
thanks guys for all the help i took it to firestone and they said it was something wrong with the block and i told them i didn't have any power lost and i just took a 3000 mile trip and nothing was went wrong
There are alot of fraudulent garages out there. They usually focus more on your pocket book then on your vehicle. One needs to exercise caution. Most times it is only something simple that needs to be fixed.
go to the dealership and buy the o-ring for like 3.00 if worst comes to worst just buy a whole new dipstick
