Ok, I have searched all I could and still have not found any resolution to this problem. I have a 2000 2.4 that has a Cylinder 1 misfire. It is very noticeable when at idle speeds since it sputters. It will still accelerate decently and not bog out. I have (simply) checked many things so far:
Spark plugs are good
02 Sensors appear good
Injectors are clicking
I checked the resistance on the coils and they both read around 5.38 ohms. Im no expert on this, but it's how my meter reads and I am interpreting this as 5,380 ohms. Is thsi the problem? I know it should be at 10,000 ohms, but am I reading my numbers wrong?
I have rattled my brain and still do not want to take it to a dealership because of all of the other posts I have read here. Any other suggestions?
When you did the resistance of the coil was that priary or secondary resistance you were measuring?
Secondly a bad spark plug boot will cause it to ground out if it is cracked.
Thirdly a compression test should be done of the misfire is still present after verifing you have fuel and spark.
By the way you checked the injector itself, it could be parcially plugged causing a misfire.
Just because it is clicking ( which is actually the pintle inside being opened and closed) doesnt mean it is delivering the right amount of fuel.

When I was checking the resistance of the coils, I was only able to get numbers by touching certain terminals ( which I believe were the secondary)
Im not sure which ones are the secondary so I tried testing different combinations
I was thinking that it may be a bad injector. They all seem to be completely plugged in. How would i test to make sure it was giving the correct amount?
I keep getting the code then it will go away on its own.

I would take the top aluminum plate up (the one that has 2.4 L DOHC stamped on it), carefully check to make sure all the boots are in proper allignment and carefully reposition these parts. It sounds to me like something is not alligned right and this is what is causing the problem. It happend to me once.
The aluminum plate is called the IDI cover... 5.8ohms is just that 5.8 ohms. If it were 5800 ohms it would read 5.8K Ohms... Youre best bet is to do an injector drop test, but you probably wont have access to anything like that. That would tell you if your injector is bad. Easiest way to test it.... switch injectors between cyl 1 and say cyl 4 and see if the misfire moves to cyl 4... if it doesnt its not the injector!!!
