Ignition problem? Car will not crank
Friday, March 31, 2006 5:00 PM
well today i was driving i turn the car off when i turn it back on it will not start it wont crank nothing. Im thinking its the lock cylinder itself it seems like its not going all the way foward enough to crank ive wiggled the wheel, messed with the shifter still nothing.

so i used a jumper wire from the starter to get it started and home. but im still stuck ive used graphite powder, penetrating spray. i have 2 cavaliers and im almost sure the other one turns alott more then the messed up one. it goes into ACC and everything just not completly foward. ive tried 2 keys it seems like it needs to go just a little bit more for it to crank and its not letting it im aware the cylinder is about 200.00 are they hard to install?

At first when i jumped it the theft light would stay on.. now when i do it it goes off so its aparently reading the key just not cranking at all!

Well Brandon Schmidt : ignition cyl is very easy to do, Just put youre key into the ignition turn it to acc position, Then inscert a small pin like tool (Small punchpin) into the side of the ignition, pull the old cyl out in with the new one youre good to go.

well you dont want to pry on the plastic housing, If you do it will screw up you igintion cyl channel. That happened before when some tried to steal my friends cavalier. Immorlizer stopped the theive.
