so now my key wont come off.......... Its not the switch. because I took it out and it works just fine. when the switch is off of the steering column, the key comes out. but since the ignition is stuck in the "on" position, the switch wont go in unless I put the key back in and turn it to the ON position. I checked the connections, and they look fine, except for one. Theres a little black wire coming out of a screw, so Im assuming its a ground, it has a connection at the end, but there is nowhere to connect it to. so Im assuming the connector somehow broke off, or tore off.
would someone be so kind as to take a pic of their ignition switch wires? I know its not the little sensor wires, its a ground, or at least its attached to a screw. its a female connector.
P.S. I tried messing around with the shifter, but it does nothing. messing around with the steering wheel is sort of pointless since it stays unlocked all the time.
thanks for the help beforehand
some pb blaster n yank the @!#$ out of it..lol
^ lol I dont think thats a good idea considering the ignition stays in the "on" position
I've had that happen on the older "single blade" key/locks. They had a little pot-metal "tang or rod" that mechanically interlocked the steering wheel movements
and the key removal. Sounds like the internal "ramp" broke.
Don
well I found out where that black wire goes. and as i suspected it was a ground. that still dd not solve my problem, even after hooking it up in the proper place... im stumped
stupid question .. is it in park ?
do u have an aftermarket shift knob? bc my friend had one and it caused his car to do that bc it sat differently then stock.
