I take the keys out, close the doors, wait a couple minutes, crank the car up, try even leaving the 5sp in different gears while off. It just will NOT go off. I've resorted to taking the bulb out, but I just got a brand new dome lense and I can't even leave it on because I have to keep taking the bulb out so I can drive at night. HELP!
you didn't say anything about your dimmer switch, so check that? make sure you didn't turn it on. just roll the switch down and that should turn it off.

yes if you didnt do that about only one other thing u can do
with the key to "on" open the door push the black button in by the hindge side of the door. hold it for a couple seconds.. do it to passenger side also
if they both turn the light off when you push them in one of your doors probably isnt making a good connection
if one doent turn off the light you may have a bad buttom/switch
do you have lambo doors or anything? sometimes the hindges dont let the door suck close enough to push the button in fully either
Okay its obviosuly you accidently switched it on.
As with the car off, there is no power from the battery going to the fuse box, which then goes to the bulb.

ok so i shut my door use my keyfob to lock it.. light takes like 30sec to turn on. how does it stay on that long if theres no power going to it?? it doesnt matter if the key is on the domelight is a constant 12v u can leave the keys out and open the door it will still come on
OK? I know how to roll the dimmer. It "should " go off, but it won't. The door off switch/strikers I will test. That sounds likely. I had a Ranger that had a driver's side striker go bad and would randomly turn the dome on and off.
By the way, this is dead stock, no power anything. So, I haven't done anything to the doors to make them not line up or close.
I had the same problem with my 99 Z24. The dome light and the map lights stayed on all the time. The problem was the door switch.....it was faulty and "it" thought that the door was always open. I would start with the driver's side door first...pull out the switch with a pair of pliers. The dome light will go off. Hookup new switch (about $10), replace into the fender hole and close the door. The switch is self-adjusting. Good luck.
