hydraulic clutch

Well Ive changed my clutch master cylinder and now the clutch is working and it doesnt stick the the floor although it seems that you can push in the pedal aways before you get to the clutch and it engages lower down , the mechanic said a good clutch should engage lower and thats why mine was higher? any truth to this does everyones clutch solid from the very top or do you have to press it in a inch or so to get clutch out ?

After i did my rebuild, i put in a new friction disk. There was quite a bit of pedal travel before it engaged. Then, i was checking fluids one day, added a little to the clutch master, then pressed the little boot on the car back the way it was supposed to be and it eliminated almost all the travel... The clutch even seems to hold better now...

its normal for our cars. the higher lower thing is BS..
