OK today I went to check my spark plugs. I saw two things that didn't look right. There was tape holding on the spark plug boot to the connector on the cover. Thats probably why the spark plugs were corroded as heck. Then there was oil sitting between the two cam housings. It appeared to be coming from the cam housing gasket. . So I couldn't change the plugs because I didn't want the oil to get in the cylinder. Ok now is there a place to order the spark plug connectors b/c the junk yards here have nothing. And what could have caused the oil leak or is that just normal wear and tear gasket failure? Thanks for any help guys.
i have the same oil leak, the plugs are fine though it isnt that much but you can see the oil in the valley, if you figure out where it is coming from let me know...
im assuming you have a 2.4L the oil is coming from the valve cover gasket - common problem
as for the boots you can buy them at any parts store for about 20.00 for a set ask for a 2.4L "wire set"
I would just try to wipe as much of the oil off as you can and thn just pull the plugs i dont think it will hurt much if a little oil gets in there it should just burn off anyway. Wipe it as clean as you can and put new AC Delco plugs.
Hey those plugs should be the platinum plugs right, Im doing mine as well. Ohh yeah I found those wires at the store they had to call the manager b/c the girl in the front had no idea what she was looking for. Thanks though.
