Hey guys my check engine came on today, i know on some cars you dont have to have a hand held to read the codes. On our old truck we used 2 pieces of wire but I cant find where to put them in at or anything on the cavalier. I drive a 2001 Z24 could ya help me out
thanks
Well Ben Sandoval
If you got a check engine light on, You need to get them scanned to find out, whats going on. auto zone will scan youre codes for free.
Good Luck
i know on OBDI you can bridge two teminals and get the CEL to flash giving you the code......as far as OBDII, I'm not to sure if there is a manual way.....but you can go to autozone and get it scanned
The wires won't work. You have to use a scan tool.
^ What they said.
The OBDII connector is under your dash on the drivers side. Very easy to find. Take it to Advance Auto or Auto Zone.. either place can scan it for free, then give you a print out of the code, and hopefully the person doing it will have
some car knowledge and be able to tell you what the code means (or at least a general idea).
My Car Domain Page
the best thing i ever did was buy a haynes manual its got 99% of the codes to tell ya what the code is and what page to help you fix it OBD 1 work with the test con, and ground con, OBD2 You need a scan tool to pull the code out ..no more flashing engine light OBD2 Started in 96' and up you can buy a scanner for about $100 Cdn or 50 cents U.S. lol sorry U.S./CAN Money joke ..About $50-75 U.S. or get it scanned at auto zone and buy the manual for your car
