ok steve, heres what you can use to get into the small spaces....

go to your local pet store that carries fish. there are brushes that you can get to clean out the tubes of a fish filter. i recently just bought some at petsmart. $2.50 and it came with like 3 different sizes of brush.

even if you dont buy those brushes it will give you an idea if the tyoe of brush you need. a wire one would be more abrasive and get they really hard to clean crap off, but i dont know if you would want anything too abbrasive because you may not want to scratch the chambers inside the manifold. a battery terminal brush for cleaning top posts can work as well, but can be really rough.

another thing you can do, is get some rope and like a kitchen sponge with the kinda scotch brite side for scrubbing pots and pans. put a hole through the sponge just big enough to get the rope through it. tie a not on either end or just tie the rope right to the sponge. feed one end of the rope through the manifold and pull on it till the sponge is in the chamber and just keep pulling back and forth. floss the mani!

be sure to leave yourself enough length on both ends of the rope so you can feed it through and floss it good. use therolte body cleaner with both methods.

i dont know how well either of these methods will work as i havent tried them, but atleast i gave you an idea!

Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!

i tried one of those bottle brushes but it doesnt seem to be doing anything. is there something stronger (like a cleaner) that i can use that is still safe for the manifold?

seafoam or a pressure washer.

I'd say soak the manifold in Seafoam. Give it some time to break all that crud loose, then clean it out.
