Hey all..

While working on my motor recently (97 2.4) - the thermostat fell out and I'm not sure which direction it goes back in...

This is a general picture of a thermostat- Can anyone tell me if the side pictured goes up towards the IDI cover, or down towards the oil pan...? Also, while I have the thermostat out, should I replace it with a colder one- do they make something like that?

not exactly sure which side faces up, or even where the thermostat is on the 2.4.. but i know that turbo tech racing carries a jet 180 degree low temp thermostat for about $15. bought it myself, but like i said im not sure where the damn thing goes. supposed to be really good.

the spring goes towards the engine (away from rad) so the spring end goes UP into the pipe, like towards the pump
