The oil and filter was changed on my 96 Z last week and ever since then the CHECK OIL lighthas come on as soon as i've started the car. If i turn the engine off and restart it it doesn't come on!
i've checked the oil and the level is fine. So is there a problem?? and should i worry about it?

While the light is on, take the car to Autozone and have them read the code.
Check oil light is for oil level only. The red oil can is for pressure. The sensor could be bad, scanning the code will tell for sure.
Thanks!
I think my nearest Autozone is about 3000miles away lol! But i've got a code reader so i'll look it up!
Thanks the car is driving and running well and has oil so maybe the sensor got damaged when the work was being done??
OOPS. My bad. I thought it said CEL.
(Bad Mike. Don't read do fast.)
no bother in the code.. i have a 96 Z with 178k miles it does the exact same thing.. and now my other 96 does it too with 120 some miles.. i took it out on my last oil change cleaned it with brake cleaner and seen the sensor was freely moving so i thought forsure i had fixed it sure enough next time i started the car and it was cold it did the same damn thing. it seemed to of happen on both my cars after i added additives.. such as seafoam or a can of engine restore to the engine ever since i added those the light does this. Im going to clean the actual wire harness and blow dry it since it is one of the lowest parts of the engine it would be easy for some moisture to get in there and set off thj light i suppose. other then that change the sensor i guess
so basically there is nothing wrong??
cool
no the senor goes bad quite often.. just go to a dealer n try to get a sensor it should fix it up. they cant be too terriably expensive
well nevermind i guess its like 40.00 just for the sensor at kragen..lol too much for me i wonder wut exactly goes bad on them mine seemed all sludgy and i cleaned it really good thought for sure it would work the plastic thing was freely moving up and down oh well il clean the wire harness thats all i think it can be
my 96 does not do this... try the sensor tho that seems the most logical thing to try first and for 40 bucks it aint that much...
