I noticed today that my drive belt has some minor cracks in it. Is that something I should be overly concerned with?
Should I get it replaced now, or wait until it really needs it?
How much is that going to cost?
Your best bet is to just change it now. Sure it'll probably last a while longer but its such a stupid thing to have break if you're driving somewhere. Its a lot cheaper to get it done now then if you were broken down somewhere and had to get someone to tow you or do it for you. For price not exactly sure never bought one for a j-body but im sure its not too expensive.
i think the serp. belt for my wife's corolla was like 30 bucks. so i can't imagine yours being too much more. might as well fix it now so that (as stated) you don't have to pay for a tow or something when it breaks on the road. don't pay someone to do it for you unless you're not AT ALL mechanically inclined. it took me 2 minutes to take my wife's off and 3 minutes to put it on...WITHOUT the "special tool."
if you don't know how, there's directions all over in this forum, just search.
GO PATS!!!
small cracks in ur belt means time to get a new belt.
