So I have noticed lately that if I open my car up while under 2K rpm the motor will bog and I will get what sounds/feels like detonation... It happens whether my car is warm or cold. There are no codes, I have had it checked twice bythe dealership... It is running a bit lean for some reason though... Anybody got any ideas? I was thinking that the TPS was causing the timing to advance too far... but I'm just guessing...

exact same thing happen to mine with umb bosch plugs.. it would stutter and run like crap in low rpms. if i wold shift and it kicked it down it woul stutter when i got up to like 2500... anyway have you replaced your plugs lately? i replaced mine with ac delco plugs n boots and it went away
yeah I think I did bosch a little while back... I'll hit up GM later and do the swap tonight hopefully... If that is what it is I'll be pissed with my parts guy b/c he told me that they would work perfectly in my car...

no im sure youll get alot of responses on this.. BOSCH SUX.. bottom line youll probably be fine with the ac delco platinums

ur car is pretty new so shouldnt need boots unless u messed them up
Yeah I replaced one boot when I did the Bosch but that was b/c it was a bit burnt as it had a small hole in it...

Well, the plugs aren't going to fix the lean condition. I'd worry about getting that tuning issue fixed first.
^^^..lol what makes you think its running lean anyway did u ever get the plugs done?

When he said it in the original post
ops.. lol i was asking HIM why he thinks it runs lean if i was asking u i would of quoted you is what i was getting at
haha, gotcha. To answer the question though, lean conditions often cause pinging as he's describing. Maybe that's why he says it's running lean.
I found the lean condition withthe GM tech when we went for a drive with the scanner attached. The ODBII scanner they have is sweet ass it can tell just about anything about your motor while it is running.
Is it possible that the crappy plugs are causing the computer to run the motor lean? b/c I had changed the pugs before I had the scanner hooked up.

yea the tech 2 is pretty cool ive used it a couple times.. i would imagine they couldl.. how about you go buy some AC delco platinums with are OEM for our car put them in and tell us how it goes

bosch is a big no no
Swapped outthe plugs and seems to be a bit better... I'm going to go back into the dealership this weekend and get it scanned again to see if it is still running lean...

Tech 2's are awesome. I used to work at a dealership so now when I want to test my cars I go back there and the mechanic lets me use it, it makes diagnosing problems much easier.
You can't outrun the radio.
i seem to have the same problem lots of detonation and stuttering at about 2k-25k rpm but when i push the pedal no stutering anymore . i swapped plugs and the ngk iridium plugs were frosty looking so i put in ac delcos but the car still runs like @!#$ and now wont idle right anymore i also changed the boots only they happened to be bosch brand (oops) i dont think they are the problem im thinking its a timing problem like maybe worn chain guides i guess i should take my car in and find out what the problem is
choma.. are you sure your plugs are gapped correctly?
Do you happen to have a Bosch O2 sensor too? It caused me some idle issues on startup, i'd swap it to a Delco too.
Original O2s... so I hope they are Delco...

so it takes days to reply , yes Brandon i did have my plugs gapped correctly according to the hayes manual at 0.050 and i think the front o2 sensor is an ntk brand i had that put in a year ago but the rear o2 sensor is not being used because im using an o2 simulator mabye i should just take the damn car in to the gm mechanic as im at a loss of whats wrong with it and how to fix it
