I have been working on this car for a couple of nights.Car start to run rough and then the check engine light came on. I scanned the obII and got a p300 code. 98 Z-24 2.4L.
I found that the # 1 and #3 cylinders our not running. I removed the fuel injector leads on #1 and #3 and the engine kept running rough, if I removed the leads for # 2 or #4 the car would die. I then moved the injectors between #1 to #2 and #3 to #4 the problem remained with 1 and 3. I checked the compression on all four cylinders and that checks out ok. I found the plugs wet on the two cylinders that I am having problems with, 1 & 3.
I had the ignition module checked and that passed. Back in Oct. I had the injector go bad on the #1 cylinder and replaced it. I also replaced the plugs and cap and coil packs.
It is not leaking coolant, I need help. I did check the fuel regulator and it is not over pressurizing the fuel rail.
DTC P0300 Engine Misfire Detected
dont know if that helps but i guess you already knew that
The full term for it is "A Random Multiple Cylinder Misfire" It's code P0300. We get this a lot at work (Autozone) It is misfiring with no rhyme nor reason, and on most if not all 4 cyl.''s
replace your coil cover, and MAKE SURE YOU GET THE WHITE ONE!! black one is utter and complete junk, they should discontinue it
Thanks for the advise, I did replace the coil cap with a delco brand cap this morning and the car runs ok, the cap that I had just put on two months ago was a black color cap. No codes and all tests have passed.
