Well when this first happen i kind of just let it go but then i found this link
http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=11&i=34611&t=34608&arch=1#34611
i was just wondering how many miles usually get at about a half tank?
i get about 250-270
i also get about 150 before it gets close to 3/4
But from a half to a quarter i usually only get like 50 and im pretty much out of gas then
This unit seems like a pain in the ass to change am i correct?
im going to fill my tank up today and see how many gallons it holds while gauge is at 1/4 that should give me a definite answer to wheather the fuel sender is the problem
It the shape of the fuel tank from what I'm told. Full to 1/2 takes about a week but ten from a 1/2 to E takes only a few days. Its normal just one of the fun little querks about our cars.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
ya but what is not normal im running out of gas at 1/4 tank .lol
OH I misunderstood you ! Yeah thats a problem that you may want to fix.
And yeah its a pain in the ass ! Just run as much gas out of it as you can as it will make dropping the tank easier.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
i normally get
110-125 miles at 3/4 tank full
195-220 miles at 1/2 tank full
280-300 miles at 1/4 tank full
then i fill up. i average between 26/28 MPG 95% freeway.
GO PATS!!!
@!#$ ya im not sure im in a hurry to change the sender then if i have to drop the tank and everything else..lol i bet its that stupid ass acetone put in like twice but othe people say theyve been doing it and no problems it happen almost right after i did the acetone.
oh well i guess ill just live with 1/4=E
just keep track of how many gallons you put in each time you fill your tank and your average MPG. clear your tripometer every time you fill up and never use more than 10 gallons.
GO PATS!!!
i do but little stuff like that just gets on my nerves i like everything to be in good working order its basically 1/4 tank =e its pretty steady on that
I remember seeing something out there that you can check the resistance from the fuel sender wires, to check if its working correctly. I think either full or empty is O resistance, hope this helps.
thx ya i think ive heard it b4 too but i already got it down that it doesnt work its just replacing it thats the pita
See how much gas you put in. Our tank capacity is 15 gallons so if you fill at 1/2 tank that should be 7.5 gallons

our tank capacity is 14.1
GO PATS!!!
just filled it up at a quarter tank took about 13 gallons.. i dont keep topping it off i just let it stop and go to the cloest dollar or so.. so who knows.. its kind of on the verge of being right or wrong..lol
all you have to do is drop the tank and remove the sensor. sucks you filled it up now you gotta go through all that gas before you change it
well i didnt plan on really dropping the tank anyway im not even sure thats the problem like i said it took like 13 gallons at 1/4 tank what do u guys think is that normal or wut
well its really easy to tell if its the sender. is the needle moving? if not, then its the sender. also around the gas tank look for a loose connection. could be something as simple as that.
