Under acceleration, and braking, I don't have a problem. But when I'm maintaining a speed or just coasting, with or without the clutch in, I hear a popping noise coming from the front of my car. The frequency of this pop is in unison with the revolution of my wheels. I had my brakes fully replaced before winter (calipers, drums, rotors, pads). I'm unsure whether or not the sound is coming from the passenger or driver side, because it's not like I can check that while driving.
Anyone have a clue what it may be? I'm hoping it's something as simple as a warped rotor or a thrown wheel weight (the car shakes a bit as well). But I'm also concerned about cv shafts, tie rods (though my tire remains stable when i try to shake it) or even wheel bearings.
I'm taking it in to the brake shop that did my job, because it may be possibly that they severely installed something wrong (they also cross-threaded 3 of my lugs, but I won't get into that one).

Does it do it all the time or does it get worse when turning? If it gets worse when turning its your axle or axles.

Nope, its the same no matter what, except that it goes away when accelerating or braking

Hmm, So anytime theres no stress on the driveline it does it and it doesn't worsen in turns. So its not an axle then as they pop like crazy while turning and they sound bad when getting on it.
It sounds like a bad hub bearing. When you accelerate its got tension on it so its quiet.
When you brake its quiet again cause tension is placed on it .
Try this, Jack up the cars front end pull the tires and calipers and rotors and see if the hub wiggles any at all. if it does then BINGO theres your problem. I'm not 100% cause I can't listen to it myself in person but it sure sounds like a bad bearing. Just caheck before you go buying new ones first.
Good Luck and let me know if that was it.

too late I guess...leaving for the shop in a about 15 minutes, so really i don't have time to jack it up and do all of that before leaving for work.

I'd agree, it's probably a hub. You could also check to make sure your tires aren't cupped or worn funny, they can cause noises as well.
You can't outrun the radio.
Hub.....bad hub....grrr....5 bills to fix it all. Apparrently, the brake shop that my parents took my car to (even though I wanted to use gravana brake special) didn't even turn my rotors. Mechanic said they put the car on the lift, went to take out the lugs, and 2 of the studs came out without turning....so in essence I'm lucky to be alive.
Thanks for the responses!

Wow, 5 bills?! I sure hope you're talking Canadian!

Probably not, though. I had the same exact problem on my '92 Cavalier, and it cost me like $130 US to have it fixed.
