wats up guys i have had the rksport crank pulley for like 2 years and have gone threw 3 alternators for some reason i believe it is the pulley. The cars electrical system has never been the same ever since the install.. HAs nebody else had this same prob with this pulley. I have tried to look for my stock pulley but no luck. Where can i buy a stock pulley at?
if it's an underdrive pulley, get rid of it,i have never been a fan of underdrive pullies on Daily drivers. you should be able to get s stock pulley at a junkyard ot at most auto parts stores
^^^^
Interesting graphs here of the loss of output at lower rpm with an underdrive pulley.
So, unlees you are charging around ALL the time at higher speeds you can expect less output from the alternator with an underdrive pulley

i have had one for almost 5 years and been through one battery and one alternator. I don't recommend them if you are going to be running a lot of electrical in your car. ie stereo, neon, etc...I am more into the performance so i don't have all that stuff. You can get a pulley kit which has both underdrive and alternator pulley.

sucks i just threw my old set awaylike a week ago after sitting in my basemest a good 1 1/2-2years...i had the cav connection set...i went through 1 alt but that car had nearly 200K on it so who knows how old that was
Your better off just getting a lightened pully at stock size. You maintain all your ratios but decrease the rotating mass, which is where the biggest difference comes in when using a underdrive pulley.
Lowering the weight of the pully means the engine has to work less to start it moving, and allows the engines to drop revs faster because it carries less enertia.
Basically the same effect as adding a lightened flywheel only less notable in an actual performance difference.

i don't think anyone i know who has done a lightened flywheel will tell you rev drop quicker. With a flywheel on a manual yes you will notce that.

my revs drop faster, and they climb faster too
I have the fidanza 7lbs flywheel, and when the engine is unloaded, I'll hit rev limiter before my tach gets to 4500rpm.
daily driving is fine tho
I have my underdrive pulleys from RK coming in a few days... I plan on running at the track this weekend with it installed. I'm not spinning an a/c compressor either.
I'm curious to see if my volts drop and if I notice any elex probs. I'll keep you guys posted.
my current best is a 14.91 @ 90mph.. we'll see if the Underdrives make a difference.
I noticed that my rpms climbed alil better but that was bout it. I belive with the crank pulley that it is casuing the altenator to spin to fast which caused it to burn out faster. I believe you may have to upgrade alternators in order for it to compasate for the faster rotation of the pulley. For awhile my head lights andwould dim at idle a great amount. The ac is still a great prob on idle and low speeds with the pulley. I only get cold air on highway speeds. I went threw 3 alternators a battery. I still have some electrical probs too.One of them failed in a matter of a year. But as for right now ii solved the problem of the dimming head lights. SO for me it has been FOE
