spongy brakes???????
Saturday, March 04, 2006 2:49 PM
There has been many times when I've been driving and I need to stop for a light or someone has hit there brakes hard in front of me that when I've hit the brakes the pedal has been very spongy plus not stoping very fast like, and I've had it to the floor once when it was acting up alot one day (and I just had the pads replaced about a month ago).....and other times when I drive sometimes the brakes are very good and have good braking power. One person tells me that it is possibly its the brake fluid is maybe too weak??????...........

try changing your brake fluid, when it get old and absorbs moisture the brake pedal will feel spongy. you will notice a huge difference with fresh fluid.

make sure the key isnt even in the ignition though...if its in the on position the fluid comes out at amazing pressures that can hurt/kill you

Brake line complete flush and fill every other year. Keeps the fluid fresh, lines clear, and the ABS sensors VERY happy. Your wallet will also thank you. Repair job for ABS parts can be quite pricey and involved, not to mention that sudden lack of ABS action when you least expect it and need it.

I've noticed this recently in my car also. Just changed oil, tranny fluid, coolant and clutch fluid... might as well do the brake fluid too...
Then if I could get rid of those damn ABS brakes I'd be happy....

OUI !! I always bleed the brakes with the car running it goes much quicker that way. I've never heard of anyone getting killed by brake fluid but I guess anything is possible. When you do it just run a ube into a jar and that way the mess is kept down.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

Are you sure you don't have any leaks?
