I'm ditching the loud muffler I have on now and want to go back to stock. I no longer have my stock muffler, so my question is where is the best place to pick up a stock muffler. I have a 2002 cavalier. I also want to get a nice tip to weld onto it for looks, but I don't know where I could find one. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
Wrecker for stock, better idea is get a aftermarket that isn't LOUD, and use that.
15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?
What aftermarket muffler isn't loud at all?
Go to Autozone or Napa, or other parts store of your liking, and tell them you need a replacement muffler. It'll maybe run you $50. Then go back to where they have the exhaust tips and pick the one you like. I was just in Autozone the other day and they had some really decent looking ones, if you like chrome anyway.
Opfer benotigt. Keine Erfahrung notwendig.

Victims needed. No experience necessary.
Well, if you want to quiet your exhaust just look for a long resonator. Should help things a bit.
I got mine from NAPA for like 45 bucks

I looked at autozone, but they mostly just had bolt on tips... I want one that can be welded.
This begs a good question (sorry, don't mean to hijack your post). If you have just an aftermarket "performance" muffler, & no other exhaust mods, how much would you loose taking it off? Would it even be noticable? I'm getting tired of the loud muffler on my car too.
lol..dude a muffler aint giving you no performance gains, so no, you wont notice. re-do the whole exhaust and maybe you'll see a couple hp at most, but really..come on do you really think a fart can is gonna make you faster? Exhaust only becomes needed when you have some good engine mods to back it up.
I was thinking the same

I guess we get all excited with the low rumble sound...I think I'll get a lifetime warrenty replacement from a mufflershop & a nice tip. thaks for pointing out my stupidity
ah hell dude it aint stupidity, you dont know how many people think that because it says "Performance" its worth its weight in gold. Everyone starts somewhere, even i did, my exhaust and a cold air intake were my first steps. hell half of that isnt even on the car anymore tho lol, performance is like that i guess. Like i said, the best thing you can do to your exhaust is open the whole thing up, the header will add the most gain, and even then its still slight. But the exaust is only as good as its weakest link (i know i heard someone say that around here lol) so re-do it all, header, high flow cat and cat back.
I don't care about the performace... I just want it to be quiet. I'll probably just get the muffler from napa, but I'm still not sure where to find a nice tip so I dont lose the look.
Would
this muffler work as my stock replacement? And then if I ordered a tip like
this? Thanks for all the help.
I got the tip ordered but I need help with a stock replacement. I want a stock replacement muffler (quiet) with a 2" inlet and 2" outlet. Would the Part # SUM-633220 work from
summit racing? I want it to be quiet.
Stainless steel tip was a good choice.
Damn, if you weren't in Indiana I would say come to my house and pick my stock one up. It has been sitting in my garage for over 2.5 years collecting dust.
I actually ordered a borla tip. But I need help finding a place to order a stock replacement. It doesn't have to be the same size or type, I just need it to have a 2" inlet and outlet and be quiet.
I'm having everything installed today. I'll throw up some pics later tonight. Hopefully it turns out how I want, the guys at the shop usually do a great job.
