When i first start my car in the morning and i take off down the road, theres a funny egg smell coming from somewhere. Its only like that for the first few minutes then it goes away. Do you all know what is making that smell, any help would be appreciated.
the cat is brand new, its a magnaflow high flow, ive only had it for like a month or so.
Either that or you got some crap gas last time. But thats a sure sign of a bad cat.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
is it supposed to smell like its coming from the vents?
Mold in the HVAC system maybe? With the hood up, spray a good dose of Lysol into the vent intake while on 'fresh', then into the passenger footwell return on 'recycle'.
if it were mold, wouldnt it smell all the time?

Not if its deep within the HVAC system.
The smell is from your cat, but it is not a symptom of a bad cat.
I have posted on this numerous times, and you can verify the information yourself with some moderate Internet research....
The "rotten egg" smell that often is smelled on cars with catalytic converters is sulfur dioxide in the exhaust. Because of a chemical chain-reaction, sulfur dioxide is a NATURALLY occuring byproduct of exhaust systems with catalytic converters.
In other words, it is a smell that says your cat is functioning correctly.
It is an "old wive's tale" that this smell is a symptom of a bad cat. It simply isn't true.
The most common "cause" of this smell is that the air/fuel mixture is too rich (too much fuel) which triggers the aforementioned chemical reaction, resulting in sulfur dioxide.
Buying quality gas (less sulfur content) can sometimes help.
The smell is also more noticeable in colder months (i.e. Winter).
