Ok i have an idle problem and i need advice.
ok when i start my car like when it is cold and start to leave my school my car is fine but when i stop at the stop sign about 150 yards away the car will drop rpms to like 500 and almost die then it will come back up. it did it like three times yesterday and it stops when the car warms up.
It wouldnt be any fun if it was easy.
How cold is it where you are ? You may just need to let it warm up a bit, specialy if you have an intake.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
you could need a tune up, Or you IAC could be sticking, If so as Jackalope was saying you may need to have youre car warm up a bit more. Or maybe you need a winter thermostat 165-170. even if it really cold I would get a piece of cardboard covering have the size of the rad, to allow the car to operate at its normal temp.
its not that cold thats why its stumping me its usually around 50 when it does it
It wouldnt be any fun if it was easy.
Mine has done the exact same thing you're describing, I also have a twin cam. I have about $1500 in new sensors/valves/etc. Here's what I've replaced so far...
IAC valve
EGR valve
Coil packs
Ignition module
2 different brands of plugs
plug boots
coil housing
O2 sensor
Throttle position sensor
a few different types of fuel injector cleaners through the gas tank
Took it to a "pro" for a diagnostic check, all systems OK.
Fuel pressure was good.
Compression was good.
Injectors are good.
I've read here that the Bosch Oxygen sensor doesn't play nice with our cars, are you using one of those?

you read CORRECT ...ive had the same problem this guy had before...changed the o2 sensor 20 times before i realized it was the BRAND that was messing it up...ac delco or nothing
so its the o2 sensors i put a header on and didnt have the money to replace them so that just might be it.
It wouldnt be any fun if it was easy.
yup thats probably it...make sure you have a new ac delco sensor..and do any kind of twisting of wires...its gotta be pluged or soldered
Check voltage on your TPS also. I am having the same problems, I am gonna check my IAC and TPS and hope it's nothing serious.
Ban low-performance cars, not high-performance ones.
I hope its not serious to i just hope its not gonna kill me on cash(except the o2 sensors i know there expensive)
It wouldnt be any fun if it was easy.
