Ok I just bought a 98 auto cavalier with a blown head gasket. Well I fix the blown head. But my oil pressure, battier, low coolant, theft sys, seat belt, coolant temp sensor, and the engine light is on. Now on the seat belt light I unplug it, its still on. Low coolant, I filled it up still on, I think the switch might be stuck closed because there was no coolant in there for a while but still need to check it out. But any ways the altnator is putting out the right volts and amps, I know it has oil pressure or it would be lock up by now, and the theft system I have now clue, I undid the battery and put the key in the ignation for ten mins so it could reset its self and relearn but it didn't fix it. But the car runs so I don't think its the actual theft system. And the temp gage is not working but I know the computer is getting the temp because it runs like @!#$ when it not connected. So iam clueless I think maybe a ground for the instermant cluster. I don't know can someone please give me some ideas. Thanks in advance.
I like this guy. At least he searched before posting.
Sounds like it could be the BCM.
Iam pretty sure its not the BCM because they weren't all on before I started the head job. But iam sure that ever thing is connect back the way it was when I started. And like I said before I check ever thing. I just haven't riped in to the dash yet. But that's next.....
Just about every light in the dash is on from what you are saying. Replacing a head gasket is not gonna turn on the safety restraint or theft lights. Whatever you did with the head gasket has nothing to do with why the lights are on, just impecable timing
If you have access to one, are you able to scan the car with a code scanner and clear those lights out. Then start and see if the lights come back on?
sounds like your might be "cluster" @!#$, in other word u may need a new cluster
NOTE: if you do get a new cluster, u MUST get your PCM reprogrammed to is, if you dont, Anti theft will shut your car off after 2 seconds everytime u try to start it
I had the same symptoms when I worked on my engine and left the engine ground cable off. Check to see if all negative leads from the battery terminal to the engine are connected. There is also a bolt and a lug just below the battery that grounds the chassis. Check that as well.
