Well I was wondering what engines will fit into the 95 sunfire non gt because im lookin to upgrade the power a little bit and from my undertsanding the newer enines are different did the 95's still carry the "quad 4 "? I had a 91 grand am with a quad 4 would that work out or ?
You have the base Sunfire, so that is the LN2 2.2. You CAN do a swap to a Quad or a LD9 (2.4 in the GT models), but it will require a bit of work. It's my understanding that the transmissions are not interchangeable between the 2.2 and 2.4 motors, but the transmission that came with the LD9 can be used with the older Quad motors. Doing the swap will require pretty much everything from a donor car. Engine, ECU, harness, tranny, accessories, fuel lines, motor and tranny mounts, everything. Depending on what you want, though, you might be able to get the power you're after by modifying the motor you already have. I believe 95 was the last year of OBD I, so ECU tuning is a little easier but wether or not it's worth it seems to gather varying opinions. Intake, exhaust, high lift rockers, etc. are popular upgrades for the 2.2 motors but the Quad and LD9 have much better support and arguably more potential.
