Ok, got a problem (still).
I killed the fuel pump... so I dropped the tank. Swapped over an Alero fuel pump (same thing apparently... except it's from a 3400.. in any case, it's supposed to be the same pump).
Now, I have the tank on the ground out of the car... I hooked up 12 volts to pump the fuel out (it's full, way too heavy to get back in the car). It pumps nice and strong for about 5 seconds, then it stumbles, the fuel gets all foamy (like there's air being pumped in as well) and it sounds like the pump is "chugging". The fuel coming out surges strong, then weak. Very odd.
I've had fuel pumps hooked to 12 volts before to drain the tank, and I've never seen this.
Is it dying? Or is this normal for the 3400 pump (which is *supposed* to be the same... ok, sure)
...j
doesnt sound normal
how are all the electric connections ?? if anything looks burnt you might have a conection going bad
Sound like it could be a bad ground or broken wire, I know it sounds obvious but that would be my guess, good luck

The wiring is brand new... it came off a 04 Alero with very few miles. I tried another wire, same problem.
The pump is shot I think... because it comes on strong for 3-5 seconds, then sounds like gurgling.... and it does it every time I try it.
New pump time
