You can't. The refridgerant is poisonous and extremely bad for the atmosphere. Wait till the vehicle is movable to relieve it, or have it towed.

Modern AC coolant does not contain CFC.

Quote:

In 1992, a new type of refrigerant for automotive air conditioning systems began to appear in new vehicles. R-134a was introduced to replace R-12 because R-12 contains ozone-damaging chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). R-134a is ozone-friendly because it contains no CFCs. It is also nontoxic and nonflammable, and meets all of the Environmental Protection Agency's criteria for alternative refrigerants. By model year 1995, all new vehicles were factory-equipped with R-134a A/C systems because the production of R-12 was phased out at the end of that year.

it's still illegal to relase R-134a into the atomosphere

It is illegal to do yourself, but dont give the BS of CFC's on modern systems.

Give him a real reason.

^^^^^^^^^^im pretty sure my dads 94 cavalier had R- 134A in it. i think GM started using R-134A in 1993.

it is agents the law to do it yourself but, in accidents the A/C system can be damaged releasing refrigerant in the the atmosphere.

you could just cut one of the A/C lines and do it that way. im sure the refrigerant is bad for your health so id be careful doing this.

so what about when the AC leaks if its so illegal then why isnt it required to check ac for leaks or something at inspection/smog thats stupid. ya CFC's arent good but every old can of hair spray or any compressed thing like that had cfc's

i thought the cut off was 96.. either way i think it can be converted anyway
