Oil on spark plug

Hi, I was just wondering if anybody has had a problem with this. The car (2.2 2200) threw a CEL yesterday evening so today i was just looking under the hood to see if the IAT came loose or something (it was idling kinda bad too). I noticed some fluid in the spark plug hole so i pulled the plug out and it was dripping with oil. The leads on the plug were fine and it was really clean, just covered in oil. The car still drives great though. Very confused.

When i pulled the plug I wiped up alot of stuff that looked like it was coming out of the valve cover and onto the head.

wow u should NOT have pulled the plug.

i had the exact same issue.

lots of oil around the plug holes. under warranty took it to the dealer and it was the valve gasket leaking oil onto the plug boots and into the hole.

if u wouldnt have taken the plug out, the oil can be cleaned out and then the gasket replaced no probs. but since u removed the plug oil could have gotten down into cyl etc...

i doubt there was enough pooled up to cause a problem liek that, but still.

and excuse my terminology im no expert in the field. just trying to re-explain what was told to me.

^^A little oil in the cylinder wont hurt anything. That is if its not leaking directly into it, it would just burn off and that'll be the end of it.

Thanks guys. I'll get that gasket replaced ASAP. I was thinking of taking the valve cover off anyway to polish or paint it.

Thanks!
