quick question getrag

i have a 00 getrag 5speed and im changing the fluid. i found the drain bolt, however on the top there is a simular plug and a red tranny fluid cap. when i opened the red cap it looks like a hole to check the fluid, and the other bold it where you put the fluid in. right?

The plug on top is where you fill, the red cap isn't really of any use. The drain plug in on the bottom passenger side, and the level plug is on the drivers side up a bit higher. The idea is to pull the level plug, and fill till it comes out that hole, lots of people "overfill" them though to combat the "getrag rattle".

The red cap is a "vent", fill plug is right beside it. GM says to use 1.8 quarts, many
people fill it with 2 quarts for the "rattle" problem. I did mine and used B&M trickshift
full synthetic and mine shifts soo much better now, especially in cold weather.
