Car runs crappy after car wash

My car is possessed. I fixed the wheel bearing, did the front brakes, and decided to take it to the car wash when I was done. I went through the automatic wash, and almost as soon as the car got wet, the motor started running funky, like it was running way rich. I pulled out of the wash and it sounded like the motor was only running on 2 cylinders. Thinking the car was taking on water at the intake or maybe an electrical connection, I popped the hood and checked the plug wires, air intake, and the connections for the TPS and O2 sensor and for any signs of water. Nothing. I drove the car home and it felt like maybe a coil pack shorted. I checked the coils and module when I got home, nothing. I let the car sit for a while, about 2 hours, and started it up, and it ran fine. Just for kicks I ran through the wash again and I got the same result. Again I checked everything and I'm at a loss. Today the car runs fine, and the CEL has gone out on its own. I don't have a scan tool to check the code. Anybody ever had this problem? It happens every time I go to the car wash, and I can never find the source. It always goes away after a few hours and it only happens at the car wash. Never when it rains. It's a little weird.

If the CEL was on you have a code stored. See what it is and go from there.

But its prob cause you didn't put that inner seal on.

Now you're just trying to be funny, bro. I was hoping I wouldn't have to go get the ECU scanned because I dropped most of my cash on brakes and the bearing.

Yup. just couldn't resist it. But yeah I'm thinking get it read is about the only thing to do at this point. I think Pep Boys or someone does it free of charge. Get the codes and go from there. Thats your best bet.

just stop going through the car wash..lol wash your car urself. do u have stock intake or aftermarket intake if you have stock the washer could be shooting the car in the front to clean the front bumper and there could b water going in the intake. which would explain why it doesnt do it when it rains. If you have a stock intake id suggest you either get an aftermarket one or wash your car yourself or cover the intake when u go though it

my 2.4L does this when i get the top of the engien wet. wat is happening is when u get that much water in the engine bay, the water seeps down around your plug wires (or boots in my case) and they get inside the wire boot, and creates a "short-to-ground" on one or more plugs. something that may help this, get a tube of dye-electric grease, and put on al your spark plug connects, including on the coil, and the plugs coming to your coil from ignition module/ECM

going through a car wash wouldnt get the top of the engine near wet enough to short anything. unless you go through it with no hood

But a lot of car washes have the "underbody wash". Perhaps the water shot up under the hood and soaked the plug wire connections? The electronic distributor is at the bottom front (technically left, as it sits sideways) side of the engine. I've had the same thing happen to me, hood closed, automatic "touchless" wash with the underbody spray, and it acted like it was running on four or five cylinders for the next twenty miles or so.
