I have a 97 Sunfire 5 speed with 120,000 miles... recently its been have some problems with the transmission/clutch.... when im goin down the road when i try to accelerate my rpms shoot up really fast but the car dosent want to accellerate.... it started doing this in 5th gear about 2 months ago and now it is doin in in 3rd thru 5th.... does this mean that the whole transmission is out or does it sound like the clutch is going out.... any help would really be appreciated... thanks

your cluch is slipping. is your clutch pedal hard to push?

yea its pretty stiff.... but not a whole lot worse than when it was working fine....

yah your clutch is done one of my buddys have a v6 tempo and I helped push it o nthe hoist at the garage becayse it was slipping that bad.

ya, ur cluch has scattered, one of the tension springs probably came loose, your gonan be pullin the tranny regardless
