I've had a few coolant problems during the 161k miles of this car. First was the lower hose, and then a new radiator to replace the cracked one. Everything was running cool. The car then set up for a few weeks cause the fuel pump went out....got that fixed. So now that it's been a few weeks, I have another coolant leak.
The leak isn't coming from any hoses or the radiator but down by the waterpump area. Is there anything there other than the pump that could cause a leak here? I just turned the car on and it was warming up with no leaks. I kick the heater on and it starts dripping pretty badly. Seems like there is a metal shroud , or subframe piece with a small hole that it ends up dripping through......this isn't the weap hole is it? Looks like it's part of the frame. WOuldn't a bad pump leak coolant all the time. I'll let the car warm up and see what it does. Any input would greatly appreciated.

Yes that would be the weap hole, But no fret, the water pump only cost $35 new. and is real easy to replace, though i personally would replace the thermostat as well, just to be on the safe side.
Mine did the same thing, only there wasn't a gasket left when I pulled off the old one. Got a new pump and FelPro gasket for 32.46 after tax.
is it required to drop the engine to do this job???...well anyways if its soo cheap and easy to do and someone wants to be a good guy and do mine thatd be great cause according to a mechanic its a $600 job...and my car ...is just a big paper wieght as of late...
I'm actually quite suprised it's that inexpensive. Sounds like it won't be that bad of a job...well, for us 2200 guys

I have an A/C compressor waiting to go on too, so I can kill two birds with one stone. Thanks for the info and links guys!
