Window motor problem . . .
Friday, February 03, 2006 10:20 PM
now i have been reading past posts about needing to replace the window motor and then i came aacross one that talks of just replacing the switch in the center console.

now my driver side is the problem. it will go down easily but it will stop on the way up. one week it worked fine, it went up without stopping and then the next it would stop, then i have to wait a couple minutes to get it to go up.

now my question is, is it the motor or is it the switch because some people have said they replaced the motor and it is still slow. also i came across a post that talks about just switching out the wiring harness, but no one else had experiences with it.

chances are it's the motor. the motor does almost no work to roll the window down, but has the weight of the glass on it when it goes back up, causing stress on the motor itself.

The motor should have two brushes pressed by springs, sometimes just giving them some more strength will solve the problem for a long time, a friend of mine did that on my driver side power window IŽll say some two years ago and it is still working fine, sometimes the brush sticks and solution is to move them back and forth until they are free to be pushed by the springs, if they are too tiny from use you have to replace them if possible or the entire motor.I would check the switch first since it will be cheaper to buy.

That's exactly the same problem I'm having with my car.
